Food in Yangshuo
The most famous dish to try out in Yangshuo is without a doubt the beer fish. Tons of restaurants on the main street advertise it and prices are pretty much the same in all those places. We just randomly picked the cleanest one from outside and went on with our adventure to order Beer Fish. We looked at the menu and ordered a fish with no bones in with the help of our waiter (who didn’t speak English). On the side we ordered some Chinese cabbage since we wanted to be healthy as well.
I’m not a big fine dining type of guy, but the Beer Fish was pretty damn good. The fish had no bones so every bite was just a bite of soft meat melting in your mouth. I loved the sauce they had with it and even had to order extra rice to mix it with. It was just that finger licking good. I’m glad we managed to finish the dish without having to waste anything.

I saw this on a video before online and was suprised to find one in real life, this is my own video though. The result is a lovely flower cotton candy with colors of the rainbow. But what they don’t tell you is that it’s not really meant for eating when it’s 35+° outside and humid as hell. We stood around taking pictures of the thing and before we knew it the thing started melting and dripping already. So the money that you pay for the cotton candy wasn’t for the candy itself, but just for the picture and the show…
Oh and we had Indian food at this excellent Indian place in the city as well. I think it was called “Ganga Impression Indian Restaurant” and it was recommended on tripadvisor so be sure to check it out!
