The reason why most people come to visit Cambodia or even heard of Cambodia is Angkor Wat. For the people that don’t know, Siem Reap is the city that closest to the temples of Angkor wat, the 8th wonder of the world. Actually I stayed about 5 days or so in Siem Reap just relaxing and only on the 3rd day of being there I got off my lazy ass and visited the temples. I figured the temples weren’t going anywhere so I took my sweet little time.

Depending on your time schedule, you can either get a 1 day pass, 3 day pass or a week pass to visit the temples. It is possible to visit most of the important temples in 1 day, but that would include you having to rent a tuk-tuk to drive you around the different temples. Sort of like a packaged tour and with a time restriction for each site. With 3 day pass you can rent a bike and take your time to visit the temples at your leisure. I don’t know why people would get the 1 week pass though, but for those who like to stretch out their stay or do something in between, I guess this is a good option.

Me, I rented a bike and took the 3 days pass and took my time to visit all the temples at my own pace. I can’t really name all the temples that I visited but the 3 that I remember were the most famous ones. The sunset at main temple Angkor Wat, Bayon and the jungle temple Ta Phrom. Those are the one that are most impressive to me. But don’t just go visit these 3, there are tons of little temples around that have an amazing atmosphere and surroundings with HUGE trees entwined with the temples.

There isn’t much for me to say with all these pictures, but just to enjoy them. I just don’t have the right words to describe the feeling you get when you’re walking through the area. I wouldn’t do it much justice. Angkor Wat is definately one of my top destinations that I’ve been to on my trip. The temples, the carvings, the architecture, the history is just mindblowing. Did the most sightseeing on 2 days actually, the third day I meant to go to the furthest temple complex, but instead I got lazy and just drank beer in my hostel. I do highly recommend taking the bike instead of a tuk-tuk so you can discover the huge area at your own pace.
