Today I went and got my last expensive purchases and additional equipment.

  • Asus eeePC netbook
  • 2 microfiber towels (s+xl)
  • Haglöfs fleece sweater
  • Deuter Gogo daypack
  • Nikon D3100 DSLR + 18-105mm lens

I actually got the DSLR a few weeks ago, but forgot to add it to the list before. It might be bulky to bring along, but the quality of the pictures make up for it. I do plan to bring my little Casio Exelim snapshot camera for random snapshots and in “dangerous situations where I don’t want to bring out my DSLR to take pictures. With this, I pretty much have all my stuff ready for my trip. Just need to get my first-aid kit, medicin, mosquito-repellent, etc. And I’m pretty much set. Once I’ve got all my stuff I’ll prolly test-pack my backpack and see if I’ve brought too much or whether there’s space for more (if needed).

    Hi Alex!\nWow u got yourself some great stuff for the trip! It is really smart to bring your own netbook – we had to pay a lot for all the internet cafe. But u can just go in a starbucks, McDonalds, … they have free wifi.\nAnd DSLR! U gonna come back with awesome pics!\n\nBut I wonder how heavy your rucksack will get??\nAnd keep in mind to have a small one for hand luggage where all the fragile and valuable stuff must fit in!\n\nAll the best from Austria!!\n\nMax.

      Since this is a once in a life time trip, i figured i’d get the most out of it. The laptop is pretty usefull too for blogging, transfering (and editing) pictures. I hope the pictures turn out awesome too.\n\nThe rucksack will be weighing about 8-9kg since the last time I packed it.     From my point of view you are WAY overpacking, Alex. \n\nBut then again, I don’t care that much about blogging or having pictures taken with a DSLR camera when I’m travelling. ;)\n\nI live by packing advice on http://www.onebag.com BTW. 🙂
